Natural Resources Volunteer, August 1999 to November 2001
Collaborated with indigenous farmers in improving land use and habitat quality through agro-forestry, concentrating on the restoration of micro-watersheds and riparian areas.
Improved community education through design and implementation of environmental awareness programs (i.e. workshops) resulting in more efficient utilization of available resources.
Aligned with community in initiating a community-run cooperative that provided seed, animal vaccines and farm tool replenishment in an effort to improve diet and nutrition.
Developed training program and instructed 24 Peace Corps trainees in applied field work to prepare for their volunteer assignments.
